It is FCAW - flux cored arc welding (wire feed).  It can be used in place of GMAW - gas metal arc welding (used to be MIG - metallic inert gas).  It just does without the inert gas (Argon usually).  If you have a wire feed arc welder you can use either.

PraxAir is coming out with a fluxed stainless wire so you don't need gas. Anyone know about this?
