Cost per share $14.15. Grain=$58.10, Hops=$43.00 & propane=$26.25. We settle up at the next meeting. Thanks to Jeff for donating the Magnum hops and Irish moss. Jeff will be rewarded with two 6packs from my share.
At 9:30 am we dough-in at 147 degF. After about 30 mins hot water infusions were added until we reached ~150 degF. Ending water to grain ratio was 1.01 qts/lb (21 gals of strike water / 83 lbs of grain). Plus we used an additional 4 gals of foundation water.
We used strike water of about 185 degF due to the grain temperature being below 32 degF at dough-in.
Started ramp to 168 degF mash out at 10:30am.
Started Sparg at 11:20am.
Ended sparg at about 12:30pm (sparg rate was 0.8 gals/min but slowed at the very end)
Started boil at 12:50pm.
Pre-boil efficiency 89.6%. 2744 points at end of boil (49 gal at 1.056 SG). Potential of grain bill 3063 points (4 lbs Crystal at 1.035, 75 lbs Pilsner at 1.037 and 4lbs Munich at 1.037). 2744/3063=.887
Knockout was 47 gals. As best as we could judge using a stop watch.
The unexpected high efficiency (recipe calculations used 74% efficiency based on pre Barley Wine brew session) caused us to go into Keystone Cop mode ending up with an extra share and an OG two points above our target gravity.
