Thanks to all who made it over to the Third Annual Steinbier brew yesterday - a most excellent time was had by all. Special kudos to the esteemed Mr. Bunch for his help (it's a fact: no one handles hot rocks better than Jeff!). I have a ProMash ball cap and a small plastic container with two cigars (Mr. Pratt, are these yours?).
As for the beer, we made approximately 5.5 gallons of alt at 1.050, and approximately 4.5 gallons of alt-steinbier at 1.044, efficiency coming in at aproximately 76%. The two worts are remarkably different. The alt is nice and sweet with the hop bitterness inthe back. The steinbier is smokey and hammy, with almost no perceptible sweetness. I think this is the most pronounced one we've made yet - let's keep our fingers crossed! In additions the two Daves (Pratt and Barlow) also brewed yielding a productive 25 gallon session for the day. Nicely done.
See ya on the 7th!
Michael
